**TENANT OUTREACH WORKER**
**(Full Time Regular)
**- Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) is a self-governing First Nation that delivers a wide range of _
- community services, including all of those typically delivered by municipalities. The Lands _
- Department is responsible for the delivery of all planning, development, and engineering related _
- services. The Community is in the midst of a significant development program, which includes the _
- development of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Along with the review and _
- approval of the engineering infrastructure to support this development, the Lands Department is _
- also responsible for assuming the ongoing maintenance and management of the infrastructure. _
- TFN is seeking a qualified individual _**to join our Lands Department**_ in the permanent full-time _
- position of _**Tenant Outreach Worker**_. In this role you will be primarily responsible for liaising with _
- tenants to facilitate an open communication between Property Management/Lands and Health and _
- Social Services. Duties will include organizing and coordinating tenant seminar series geared _
- towards rental properties maintenance. You will support tenant families with accessing community _
- resources. You will assist with onboarding new tenants, move-in and move-outs logistics, and _
- provide ongoing support in various social aspects You will assist property management with _
- competent care, including when working with Indigenous peoples. _
- The Tenant Outreach Worker reports to the Property Management Supervisor and Lands Manager _
- and must maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, Chief and Council, _
- community members and public.**Requirements -**

Tenant screening and collection of tenant info data pertaining to tenancies
- Support with tenants’ logistics at move-in and move out, engage in delivering knowledge of

TFN’s Tenancy Agreement and Lelum Rental Housing Policy with the tenant and families
- Lead of TFN’s RentSmartBC tenant educational seminars
- Liaison between Property Management and tenants during periods of repairs or extensive

renovations affecting their suites

Residential Tenancy Act and TFN internal policies
- Experience with tenant-landlord relationships; Sound knowledge of community resources and
regulations
- Ability to learn and understand Tsawwassen First Nation programs, policies, and operational
structure
- Ability to assist groups to develop and co-ordinate community activities and programs Ability to build and maintain professional, confidential relationships with tenants
- Experience/familiarity with First Nation housing
- Ability to work effectively across organizational departments and in a team and partnership

context
- Knowledge of current social issues such as poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions,

domestic violence, child protection etc.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Strong awareness of cultural diversity
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution
- Other administrative duties as required by the Lands Manager or the designate** -**
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle with appropriate insurance

coverage

**Education/Experience: -**

Completion of a diploma or certification program in community social service, community mental
health, or other relevant discipline.
- Relevant experience in supportive counselling with diverse populations that face multiple barriers
to successful housing.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.

**Additionally: -**

Ability to prioritize workloads, to work independently with mínimal guidelines and supervision,
and to perform tasks under periodic work pressure
- Must complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
