Position: VP Finance and Operations

**About the Opportunity**

You will support the President in establishing and executing the growth strategy of the business. As the financial and operations leader of the business, you will provide timely financial and operational insights, modeling, analysis and recommendations on performance against targets at both the company and individual project levels and provide financial and operational support to all areas of the business.

Direct Reports: Office Manager, Accounting Team, Operations

Key Interactions: Internal: Senior Management Team, Account Team, Operations, HR

External: Clients, Tax Authorities, Banks, Auditors, Key Vendors

**What You Will Do**

**FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

Through a strong focus on cash management and forecasting, you will ensure the

business has cash resources available at all times to fund its day-to-day operations and

client projects. You will ensure that appropriate controls are in place at all times on all

areas of “cash out” and a proactive approach is taken, in conjunction with the client
- facing teams, to expedite “cash in”.

The role will provide financial support and input to the Account Teams at the proposal

stage of projects and to the Operations Team during project execution, monitoring

performance against budget on a regular basis and ensuring corrective actions are

identified and implemented to stay within approved budgets. You will maintain and

develop the tools used within the business for project budgeting and control with a view

to continuous process streamlining and improvement.

As part of an overall responsibility to manage risk, you will review and provide input into

contractual discussions with clients and vendors to ensure areas of risk are being

identified and appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place (including, but not

limited to, insurance programs).

You will ensure the “back office” areas of the business are aligned with and develop

according to the needs of the business. This includes all aspects of accounting for both

the Canadian and US ENT businesses (A/R, A/P, general ledger), payroll, corporate tax

requirements (federal, provincial and state), IT systems and facilities.

**OPERATIONS**

You will use your experience and expertise in a highly visible role to elevate our operational ability to drive efficiency, agility, profitability and quality of work

You will partner with all client-side leaders to improve the quality of work and realize efficiencies across the agency

Standardize reporting, project updates and information sharing across the agency.

Lead annual agency planning process in collaboration with all agency stakeholders

Participation in development of full-year and project scope based on client priorities and budget realities across Client business units

Responsible for Coordination across agency for timely delivery of all project scopes including socialization within the agency

**What You Have**

At least 10 years' experience solving operational and organizational challenges within an advertising and marketing agency in a client service environment

Process focused with an ability to analyze and optimize processes to drive efficiency

Exceptional organizational and time management skills in order to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency and drives others to do the same

Appetite for extremely fast-paced, competitive and ever-changing agency and industry

Confidence to assume the role of “the” finance and operations person in the organization with little ego and does not take things personally

Flexible - comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business where wearing many hats is the norm

**Specific Knowledge**:
Experience with cross-border business (US legal, tax and compliance requirements; transfer pricing)

Project-based business experience

CPA - minimum 7-10 years post-qualification experience

Experience in contract review and negotiation is an advantage
