**WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITY?**

We have an exciting opportunity for an **Adult Mental Health Worker** to join the Family Supports team with Polaris In this role you will be supporting parents and caregivers who have one or more children with significant mental health challenges. As an Adult Mental Health Worker, you will support Adults with Children within the Polaris program by coordinating and providing their treatment.

This work isn’t easy - in this portfolio of work we support families at the extreme end of the range in children’s mental health. We are looking for a hands-on practitioner and relationship builder who wants to join our talented multi-disciplinary team and make a positive impact in the lives of families with children who are experiencing significant mental health challenges.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Provide support and treatment to adults, individually, and in groups using a trauma informed, motivational interviewing approach and with stage matched interventions
- Participate and contribute to the comprehensive assessment of caregivers needs and desires
- Assess the mental health and addiction needs of the adult family members
- Coordinate the services offered to adult family members
- Advise and support adult family members as they navigate the adult mental health and addictions systems
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of and connections to the local adult mental health and addictions treatment system

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Diploma or degree in social work, social service work or a related discipline
- Experience providing support and/or treatment to adults with significant mental health/trauma/addiction challenges

**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**
- Knowledge of attachment based developmental trauma
- Knowledge of adult psychiatric assessment and treatment systems
- Experience working in partnership with families with children experiencing mental health challenges
- Experience in motivational interviewing and staged matched interventions
- Knowledge of the local adult mental health and addictions systems ideally with existing personal connections within these systems
- Knowledge of childhood and adolescent development and children’s mental health

**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD **KNOW?**:

- This is a full-time permanent role that requires some evening and weekend work.
- This position will take place in client homes, community settings, and in the office with frequent travel throughout the Waterloo Region.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and applicable auto insurance
- Satisfactory Criminal and Judicial Matters Police check is required.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Wage: $25.77 to $36.38 per hour.
- Full-time employees start at 3 weeks' vacation (prorated based on start date) and are eligible to participate in Camino’s benefits and RRSP matching program after three months of service.
