Rink Operator

Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations - Arenas, the Rink Operator is responsible for the daily maintenance of the ice surface and arena area for use by the general public and assisting in maintenance for the entire building. Duties include, but are not limited to, operating the ice re-surfacer and other equipment related to rink operations in a safe and efficient manner, general repairs and cleaning of arena glass, logging and keeping records, set-up and clean-up of meeting rooms and gymnasiums based on bookings, and communicating with program, facility and customer service staff to ensure a safe and coordinated service delivery. The Rink Operator will also maintain the grounds outside the facility, including but not limited to, garbage collection, weeding, grass cutting, hedge trimming, snow shoveling, snow blowing, plowing and salting as required, are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facility and will comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Applicants must have successfully complete grade 12 or the equivalent
- Have working knowledge of power tools, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, power washer, snow blower etc.
- Experience with ice resurfacers and ice edgers
- Work constructively and cooperatively in a team environment and work independently as required
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, painting, dry walling and carpentry are preferred
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills are required
- A valid "G" Ontario driver's licence in good standing is required
- Applicants may be required to undergo skills assessment testing
- The hours of work are scheduled in advance and include evenings, weekends and holidays.
