Specifically, we are looking for **applicants with strong medicinal chemistry and drug development background and experience**, an advanced degree in organic/medicinal chemistry, pharmacology or a related field.

**Primary Responsibilities**

This is a key position leading the identification and refinement of drug lead molecules. The responsibilities will include:

- Developing and implementing a strategic plan for the identification of targeting peptides and linker-payload combinations aligned with the company's overall R&D goals
- Lead and manage a cross-functional team of scientists, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment while maintaining high safety standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including discovery and data analysis to ensure seamless integration and communication across research and development efforts
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in the fields of medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry and TRPs, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement within the department
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patent filings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

**Required qualifications and experience**
- A PhD in organic/medicinal chemistry, pharmacology or a related field with a in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in the selection, synthesis and evaluation of new compounds in drug development.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.

This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

**Location**: 48HD laboratories are located on campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Day-to-day presence on location is preferred, a hybrid work model might be considered in certain cases.
