**Job Summary**:
This position provides direct developmental intervention and support services to families of infants and children at risk and with established developmental delays in order to optimize the development of infants and children receiving service.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Consult with and coach parents and/or caregivers as mediators regarding their young infant’s or child’s growth and development.
- Act as service coordinator to assigned families, assisting the family in identifying and coordinating client services, focusing on family centered practice.
- Administer and interpret appropriate screens and assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation including electronic files, reports, intervention tracking.
- Develop, implement, and monitor, in partnership with parents and/or caregivers and other professionals, an Individual Family Service Plan.
- Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Resource Consultants and Behaviour Consultants.
- Represent the Infant and Child Development Service in the community, facilitating community in-services, education seminars, parent groups, screening clinics and committee work.
- Maintain ongoing professional knowledge and skills embedded in evidence based practices.
- Demonstrate effective time management skills in balancing direct and indirect work with families.
- Maintain databases related to service delivery and administration requirements.
- Facilitate intake clinics/ consultation clinics and/or groups/workshops, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative duties related to Children’s Services.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- University degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or Child or Family Studies.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with children, from birth to five years of age, with special needs or at risk of developmental delay, and their families.
- Facilitation, coaching, consulting and service coordination skills with families, care providers and other professionals in the field using evidence-based practice
- Ability to work collaboratively with community service systems and resources.
- Experience with a variety of developmental screens and assessments and knowledge of early years mental health.
- Working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

**Preferred**
- Sound knowledge of family-centered and strength
- based practices, effective time management skills and a strong understanding of confidentiality, boundaries and ethical decision making are essential.
- Prior experience in an early intervention program
- Fluency in French or a second language other than English.

**Working Conditions**
- The incumbent will be required to work outside normal office hours, on average one or two days a week
- Travel will also be required between locations within Halton Region. Incumbent must supply their own transportation.
- The incumbent may be required to fulfill roles and responsibilities outlined in the Halton Region Emergency Social Services plan. Roles and responsibilities may include coordinating an emergency social services response and on-call duties. Additional hours and shift work may be required to fulfill these functions.
