The Youth Development Team at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is a small, close-knit group of four, including a manager, two youth development specialists, and a program developer. This established team collaborates with non-profit partner organizations, such as 4-H BC, to inspire youth across the province to explore careers in agriculture and food. The team values creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to the success of BC’s agricultural future.

**The Role**
As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a key role in creating agriculture education materials for youth and volunteers, facilitating engaging webinars, and planning and delivering a youth conference. Your work will help inspire the next generation of agriculture leaders, providing hands-on learning experiences that shape BC’s agricultural future. This temporary role offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen your skills in writing, facilitation, and collaboration while making a meaningful impact on BC youth.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource management or education related field (e.g. agriculture, food systems, environment, education, communications, organizational leadership, etc.) plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth development, volunteer organizations, or community development, OR
- Diploma in a natural resource management or education related field (e.g. agriculture, food systems, environment, education, communications, organizational leadership, etc.) plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth development, volunteer organizations, or community development.
- Experience in agriculture, food and/or seafood sectors.
- Experience teaching and/or creating educational material, planning and/or coordinating education events.
- Experience with project and/or program management and evaluation.
- Experience working collaboratively in partnership arrangements for program/project delivery.
- Preference may be given to applicants with more years of experience.

Provisos /Willingness statements
- Extensive travel within BC is required.
- Flexible scheduling is required as community organization meetings and conferences frequently occur outside of and extend beyond the normal working hours.

**About this Position**:
Currently there is one (1) 7-month temporary opportunity available.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
