Applications are invited for the position of Payroll Analyst in the Payroll department at Niagara College, located at the Welland Campus. The starting salary is $30.56/hr for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Processing of full-time and part-time payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees
- Maintaining confidential payroll data records and an effective auditable Payroll Accounting system for external auditors and audits by federal and provincial tax authorities
- Maintaining current payroll system setup; updating as required for new earning codes, calendar year changes, etc.
- Providing technical support for trouble shooting system issues, working with system users and IT staff to analyze and resolve system problems
- Play a leading role in testing patches, upgrades and tax updates, including creating and documenting test case scenarios
- Performing analysis and reconciliation of payroll related accounts and general ledger reconciliations
- Preparing, reconciling, and remitting information returns (T4’s and T4A’s) and summaries to the federal tax authorities
- Completing accurate CAAT pension plan reporting and reconciliations
- Processing and administrating various pension plan requests and reports on an on-going basis

**Qualifications**:

- Two (2) year diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager designation or a related certification is an asset
- Minimum five (5) years experience working with a computerized payroll or accounting system in a large organization
- Experience with an integrated in-house system and a HRIS (PeopleSoft preferred)
- Experience working with benefit and pension plans and/or payroll experience in a unionized environment are considered assets
- Demonstrated communication, organizational, problem solving and prioritizing skills
- Proven abilities in working independently and as a team; exercising initiative and good judgement, sensitivity, and confidentiality in dealing with employees
