**Salary**: Fulltime 40 hours per week. One year contract with possibility of permanent position. $31.71/hr.

**Bethesda House**

Bethesda House is a not-for-profit organization that supports women, children, and their pets, that are suffering from gender-based violence and abuse.

Bethesda House operates a short-term emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis line, and an outreach program to support those that are still living in or have transitioned out of their abusive situation. We provide housing support, an outreach counsellor, and have a child & youth worker on site.

**Purpose of the Position**

The Strategic Fundraising and Social Media Specialist is responsible for the development, administration, and coordination of fundraising activities and communications to advance the organization’s work. This position reports to the executive director and is part of the management team. The focus of the position is on donor relations and securing funding for Bethesda House operations, special projects, events, and outreach activities. In addition, the role involves lead coordination and execution of all aspects of various online and in-person events, social media, and website communications.

The Strategic Fundraising and Social Media Specialist position involves three (3) main areas of responsibility.

**New Resource Development**
- Identify new donor and foundation prospects, in-kind donations, and create solicitation letters.
- Research and identify sponsors including major gift prospects, individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Approach businesses, local authorities, trusts, and individuals to secure funding.
- Maintain records of sponsors.
- Assist with writing funding proposals and send these to potential sponsors.
- Donor pipeline management; create a yearly plan/calendar with an overview of all prospective funders and current donors.
- Manage budgets and work to meet targets.
- Produce marketing material, ensuring quality control, and maintain brand consistency.
- Create marketing and promotional activities.
- Develop fundraising events.
- Recruit and train volunteers and oversee their work.

**Existing Donations/Donor Relations**
- Engage with current donors to solicit feedback, invite to events, and updates on organizational activities.
- Maintain donor database and donor lists, ensuring confidentiality and security of donor information.
- Coordinate and facilitate in-kind donation solicitation, liaising with external vendors and companies to secure supplies for our clients and community outreach programs.
- Provide monthly internal donation reporting and reconciliation.
- Maintain communication and information with outside vendors and organizations.
- Support and maintain relationships with third-party fundraising groups.
- Plan and organize donation campaigns and events.

**Communications and Social-Media**
- Compile, write and edit content for blog posts/newsletter highlighting the organization’s programs and services, providing program updates, and information on topics related to the clients we serve.
- Maintain ongoing social media initiatives and identify opportunities to create new communication campaigns.
- Develop complementary plans, content, and assets for social media campaigns to support our programs and services.
- Create basic graphics for our social media channels.
- Oversee, monitor, and revise website content to ensure it is up-to-date and accurate, supporting the management of the organization’s website.
- Assess website and social media performance to identify opportunities for engagement and visibility that supports organizational fundraising, marketing, and communication objectives.
- Ensure events and activities are captured by photography and video.
- Drive traffic to social media sites via contests, awareness, and media campaigns.
- Create press releases.
- Lead fundraising and engagement campaigns.
- Coordinate activities related to the production of event materials, including liaising with printing, and mailing suppliers.

**Required Knowledge and Skills**
- Fundraising and special event management.
- Exceptional, authentic, and persuasive communicator, orally and written.
- Troubleshooting, problem/issue identification, and analysis skills.
- Experience with social media tools and community management (i.e., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Strong relationship management skills, and the ability to interact and work professionally and effectively with staff, clients, donors, community partners, and vendors.
- Excellent technical skills (Microsoft Office products, production/presentation software and new technologies).
- Basic experiences with graphic design (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).
- Passionate about the work of the organization and excited to help it secure new and sustainable funding streams.
