Within the company, Aquafor’s Ecology Group is responsible for: site characterization studies; impact assessment studies for site alteration and development; post-construction and long-term environmental monitoring; subwatershed planning; Species at Risk screening, permit negotiation, and monitoring; arborist studies and tree protection plans; and numerous other tasks both independently and in support of the engineering design and other groups.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- University Degree or Technical Diploma in Environmental/Earth Science, Science/Ecology/Biology, or similar programs.
- Experience with field work, performing under variable weather conditions and terrain.
- Experience in the identification of Ontario’s flora and fauna species.
- Training or experience with survey protocols and data collection standards - e.g., Ecological Land Classification, the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System, the Marsh Monitoring Program, Butternut Health Assessment, the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas, the Forest Bird Monitoring Program, etc.
- Experience with or knowledge of Species at Risk legislative requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, autonomy, and flexibility.
- Experience working with Google Suite and/or MS Office, and ability to quickly learn new platforms.
- Fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.
- Track record of managing time effectively and balancing work with other commitments.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**

Position Type: full-time permanent, following six-month probationary period.
Requirements: 37.5-hour standard work week, with flexibility to accommodate odd hours and long days when necessary to complete field work.
Starting Salary Range: Junior - $50-60k to Intermediate - $61-75k (commensurate on experience)
Vacation and Health Benefits: offered after the six-month probationary period.
Remote Work Options: available following orientation.
