Sander Geophysics (SGL) specializes in high-resolution airborne geophysical surveys for resource exploration, as well as geographical and environmental mapping. The company carries out airborne gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, and radiometric surveys, using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
Sander Geophysics is currently seeking a Research and Development Geophysicist to join the growing team. You will be working at the head office location in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
**Responsibilities of the Position**
- Provide physical and geophysical expertise to the development of airborne EM systems and products
- Design EM instrument requirements, performance metrics, test procedures
- Develop analysis, QC and processing tools for EM data
- Analyze EM test data and recommend design changes
- Train staff in EM processing and analysis.
- Process airborne geophysical data
- Monitor collected data for quality control as it is processed and prior to finalization
- Understand, comply with, and promote all company safety precautions and policies including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations
- Attend and complete training courses and/or company examinations, as required
- Maintain a high level of technical and operational knowledge through direct engagement with colleagues, supervisors, and personal development
- Maintain good records and documentation of all plans, reports, and tests
- Maintain project schedules and goals
- Perform and complete other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications**
- Advanced Degree in Geophysics or Physics or bachelor’s level degree with extensive experience with EM research and development
- 5 years of EM and/or airborne geophysical experience including design and development of systems and products
- Computer programming experience
- Experience with EM modeling
- Experience/Familiarity with geophysical instrument operations.
- Extensive Computer experience
- Willing to travel globally, occasionally for field tests and technical conferences. Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain a valid passport for the purpose of traveling globally
- Valid driver’s license
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
