**TRUCK DRIVER (DZ) AND WAREHOUSE WORKER**

**SUMMARY**

You will organize and prepare daily deliveries, pick up donated and purchased food from donor locations, deliver food to member agencies, and perform warehouse duties as needed.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Deliver food orders and other goods to member agencies by:_
- Adding perishable food items to agency orders every morning, preparing each order for transport.
- Loading agency food orders and other goods onto the truck.
- Driving to member agencies and unloading food and goods from the truck.
- Ensuring that perishable food is maintained at its proper temperature.
- Ensuring that all the timed food and goods are collected and delivered in a safe, hygienic and efficient manner.
- Delivering extra supplies of food items to member agencies when inventory warrants and in accordance with the Ottawa Food Bank’s distribution policies.
- Pick up perishable and non
- perishable food and other goods from donor locations by:_
- Driving to donor locations, recording and loading perishable and non-perishable food and goods onto the truck, and driving back to the warehouse or directly to agency members for perishable food.
- Unloading and recording food and other goods at the warehouse, or to the agency for perishable food.
- Warehouse Duties:_
- Assisting with receiving (checking for quality, quantity, temperature, damages, and condition of delivery vehicle) and processing (unload, label, and store) incoming product.
- Entering receiving into inventory, perform weekly audits of inventory, and make changes as necessary.
- Preparing orders for delivery and pick-up, pick and assemble orders, pack, label, wrap, prepare shipping documents an assist with loading as required. Clean the warehouse as needed.
- Breaking down pallets.
- Performs other related duties, such as:_
- Cleaning the interior and exterior of motor vehicles on a regular basis.
- Performing “circle checks” before daily use of motor vehicles.
- Reporting motor vehicle maintenance and refrigeration unit maintenance requirements to the Manager of Operations..
- Adhering to OFB vehicle use policy at all times while operating OFB vehicles.
- Maintaining good relations with all contacts, volunteers, donors and member agencies.
- Assisting with the training of new volunteers, as required.
- Safely operating a five-ton truck, cube van, or a van as required in accordance with all provincial laws.
- Working well as part of a team. Work with, supervise the safety of, and provide guidance to volunteers.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE**
- You must possess a valid DZ or AZ driver’s license for operating a five-ton truck.
- Minimum of 3 years experience driving experience with a DZ license.
- Experience driving 5-ton trucks in an an urban environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt to changes in routes, deliveries, etc.

**RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTACTS**

The work involves daily contact with co-workers, volunteers, donors, member agencies, and the general public. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Patience and sensitivity to the special needs of all individuals are also required. Tact, discretion, and good manners are necessary.

**PROBLEM SOLVING**

The Truck Driver (DZ) and Warehouse Worker determines driving routes and make decisions regarding alternative routes. The incumbent also makes decisions regarding food being being offered by corporate donors. The incumbent must resolve issues that arise such as delays when making deliveries, last minute changes to plans, etc.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL**

The incumbent drives 5-ton trucks on a daily basis. Some other duties are performed in the warehouse. Travel is usually limited to the City of Ottawa. Work schedule may include occasional evenings and weekends.
