Located in The Military Museums complex on Crowchild Trail, the Air Force Museum of Alberta (AFMA) opened in 2009. It is operated by the Air Force Museum Society of Alberta. The museum is an 800 sq ft facility showcasing artefacts, exhibits, and audio-visual components that tell the story of Canada’s Air Force between 1914 and today. In 2015, the Ken and Roma Lett Cold War Exhibit was added, tripling the current exhibit space with the addition of two Sprung Structures housing three fighter aircraft and their related artefacts. Between the interior exhibit and the Cold War exhibit, there are two movie theatres (showing five different looping films), seven looping videos on stand-alone displays, four touch-screens, and gallery-wide WIFI.

The Air Force Museum of Alberta is seeking an audio-visual technician retainer. This retainer position is responsible to the Air Force Museum Society’s Board of Directors and the AFMA Curator. This position reports directly to the AFMA Curator. The audio-visual technician oversees the maintenance, planning, installation, support, and trouble-shooting for all exhibit technical functions. Ideally, this position would also oversee the administration of and improvements to the Museum’s website. This opportunity requires occasional evening and weekend on-call work.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide technical support, maintenance, and trouble-shooting for all exhibit technical functions, including touch-screens, theatre projectors, looping video screens, and gallery WIFI
- Collaborate with the Curator to develop cost-effective, reliable solutions to on-going A/V challenges and new exhibit additions
- Source and install new or replacement A/V hardware and software
- Communicate easily, regularly, and reliably to ensure operational efficiency
- Ideally, manage and update the Museum’s website
- Ideally, design UX systems for touchscreen hardware

**Qualifications and Knowledge**
- At least 3 years of experience in audio-visual support
- Efficient, working knowledge of current A/V hardware and software systems
- Determined approach to trouble-shooting solutions
- Proven web development expertise would be a significant asset
- Proven UX Design experience would be a significant asset
- Tenacious and creative problem-solving
- A clear criminal background check is required

**Wage**: Retainer fee paid monthly. Additional invoices can be submitted for projects, hardware, etc.
