**Position Title**: Veterinary Clerk (Thoroughbred, Standardbred and Quarter Horses)

**Term**: Full Time, Fixed-Term Contract (April - December 2024)

**Division/Branch**: Operations Division / Regulatory Compliance Branch

**Salary Range**: Min: $25.96 Max: $28.84

**Work Location**: Within a 100 km radius of identified racetracks (Woodbine, Fort Erie).

**Note**: Applicants beyond a 100 km radius may be considered.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horse racing and private cannabis retail sectors in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

Assisting Commission and Official Veterinarians in examinations by recording specific details of observations and notifying appropriate parties.
Recording pre-race exam vet findings of each horse examined and entering information into the applicable computer system.
Generating reports from computer systems of all horses competing each day for veterinarians.
Processing Exercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) submissions, and other veterinary related regulatory submissions.
Identifying and verifying horses carded to be treated with furosemide and generating race day administration files.
Corresponding with the race office on any discrepancies or changes with respect to the delinquent report.
Providing iAGCO support and assistance to horse people
Assisting Racing Officials, Commission Veterinarians and/or other on-site AGCO personnel as required.

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist end-users in understanding how to use an online service portal.
The ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions under pressure.
General knowledge of the AGCO’s Rules of Racing, the Horse Racing Licence Act, 2015 and its regulations would be an asset.
Strong understanding of racehorse care and handling.
Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail.
Proficient computer skills with an aptitude for learning new systems.
The ability to work independently.
The ability to travel to meetings and assigned racetracks in the province as required.
The flexibility to work variable hours and weekends (work on statutory holidays may be required).
