**Fathering Coach - Fathering for the Future**
**Full-Time Position**
**(35 hours per week)**

We are looking for a passionate and committed professional to join our organization as a Fathering Coach with our Fathering for the Future portfolio. The purpose of this role is to support those that identify as fathers and/or male caregivers by providing home-based support to families with children to promote healthy child development; caregiver capacity-building; family resilience; and community connections. You will work collaboratively with other programs within the organization to develop further programming to meet the needs of fathers/male caregivers and their children. This service is offered city wide, within the city limits of Calgary.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
A degree (preferred) or diploma in the Human Services field is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with families and their young children, including work experience in the following areas:
- Experience providing support to families with complex needs.
- Experience working with those that identify as fathers and/or male caregivers is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of developmental milestones for children 0-6 years of age.
- Experience providing in-home support is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of child and family serving community resources.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Utilizing a client database and tracking assessment and outcome data for families served.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to work in a very organized, accurate and detail-oriented way.
- You are self-directed, and able to take initiative.
- If you have experience fathering and parenting young children is considered an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle.
**TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:
- ASQ & ASQ-SE Developmental Screening
- Strengthening Families Approach
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
- Suicide Awareness and Intervention
- Indigenous Awareness (minimum 8 hours per year)
- Diversity Competence (minimum 4 hours per year)
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Serve families in Calgary as assigned.
- Establish and maintain a supportive and mentoring relationship with complex families by providing regular services through weekly in-home visits.
- Provide targeted relationship-based support and learning opportunities for fathers.
- Use skills to address identified family concerns and implement effective interventions with families, utilizing advanced strength-based, solution focused strategies. Implement assessment tools including FCSS, Outcome STAR, Parent Assessment of Protective Factors (PAPF), Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs) and others to support family goal setting.
- Act as a liaison between fathers and other community agencies and promote family resilience and self-sufficiency.
- Establish and implement a family support plan with goals, strategies and activities developed with parents. Ensure these documentations are completed on time and kept up to date.
- Utilize developmental assessment tools (ASQ3/ASQ-SE and DSP) for children and make recommendations or necessary referrals to parents to support optimal child development.
- Assist fathers with referrals to community services and resources required.
- Ensure complete and accurate data entry into the agency’s client database.
- Work cooperatively as part of the Home Visitation team, contributing to team meetings and providing coverage to team members as needed.
- Work collaboratively with Calgary Region and key community stakeholders.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Society.
**Salary**: $48,000 - $50,000
