**Position**:

- Contract type: Permanent full time, after 3 month probation period.
- Salary: $18 - $23/hr
- Schedule: Monday - Friday / flexible from 8:30am - 4:30pm, minimum 30 hours per week.

We are dedicated to provide systematic and holistic training programs with the concept of Structured Teaching as the core program model for the service recipients. We treasure the uniqueness and dignity of each individual, and aim to enhance their social functioning in daily living, and support them to live, work and actively participate in a wide range of daily activities.

**The Role**:
We are seeking a caring and motivated PSW & Housekeeper to support the daily needs of adults with developmental disabilities in our day program and maintain the cleanliness of the centre. Half the time will be spent providing personal care to individuals and supporting them to learn independence in managing their daily living needs. The other half will be spent maintaing the cleanliness of the centre facility. The role includes elements of teaching and training individuals with developmental disabilities in regards to learning daily living skills. The PSW & Housekeeper will also observe and report changes in trainees’ conditions to appropriate team members, and practice infection control and safety measures in accordance with health and safety policies.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Provides personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (toileting, skincare, dressing, administering medication, light meal preparation, feeding, bathing, etc.) to adults in the day program
- Interacts with trainees in an effective, compassionate, empathetic and supportive manner
- Respects each trainee as an individual and is aware of their need for self-respect and privacy, and the right to share in decisions about their care
- Prepare accurate and complete case notes and records, correspondences, reports and other written materials.
- Provide crisis intervention for emergency situations.
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is achieved throughout the center, contributing to keep all center entrances and learning areas neat and tidy on a daily basis, free of any dirt/debris or tripping hazards to present an extraordinary experience for trainees, families, and visitors.
- Perform a variety of regular cleaning activities around the center such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and dusting.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and waste according to the building waste removal and recycling policies.
- Fill and replenish toilet tissue, soaps etc. to the required standards.
- Assist in regular sanitation of classrooms, office, kitchen, and learning materials as needed.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, appliances and entire kitchen and keep all in good working order, advising the Executive Director if repairs are needed.
- Clean all equipment used such as vacuum cleaners to ensure in good working order.
- Operate cleaning equipment and use designated chemicals and other cleaning products safely and in accordance with instructions.
- Complying with the safe use of electrical equipment, chemicals and solvents (WHMIS requirements for labels and safety data sheets SDSs) this includes the use of warning signs.
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health & safety so as to ensure a safe working environment for all.
- Deliver service with a good attitude, respectful, calm, and nonjudgmental manner
- Work as a team member to jointly deliver on organizational goals under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and the leadership of the Executive Director
- Occasionally support and supervise volunteers to be actively involved in the helping process.
- Attend and participate in supervisory sessions with the Program Supervisor or the Executive Director as scheduled.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in any fundraising events or public events if necessary
- Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency privacy and confidentiality policy.
- Perform other duties/assignments as assigned by the Program Supervisor and the Executive Director.

**Requirements**:

- **MUST be fluent in Cantonese and/or Mandarin.**:

- Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (ex: ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely for extended periods, ability to lift 50lbs independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting)
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care
- Minimum 1 year experience working with Adults with caring needs in a professional setting
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate _preferred_
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification _preferred_
