**Child and Youth Mental Health Social Worker/Psychotherapist (1 position)**

Location: Owen Sound Family Health Team

Status: Full time (37.5 hours/week)

The Owen Sound Family Health Team (OSFHT) is committed to improving and maintaining the health of the patients we serve through a team of family doctors, nurse practitioners and other health care providers. Based on local health and community needs, we provide access to quality, comprehensive primary health care programs and services that are based on the needs of patients and communities.

**Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)**:

- Complete an initial comprehensive assessment, considering the multiple layers and interacting mental health issues, needs, and disorders, concurrent addiction issues, and medical conditions.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
- Utilize commitment strategies to obtain commitment to therapeutic engagement, while assessing client readiness and stage of change.
- Complete a comprehensive formulation and recovery plan with clients as the foundation for treatment with input from collateral sources.
- Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to adjust to changes in client's status.
- Focus on the client's potential for developing/sustaining pro-social behaviours, self-regulation of mental health symptoms, and related behaviours.
- Self-monitor the completion of progress/contact notes describing each client contact and how that contact relates to treatment goals.
- Routinely administer outcomes measures that seek the client's feedback regarding the therapeutic alliance and treatment effectiveness.
- Co-facilitate psychoeducational groups.
- Collaborate with other members of the team and collateral supports involved in the client's care, and actively participate in supervision and team meetings.
- Adhere to the policies of the Mental Health Service and the OSFHT.

**Qualifications**:

- Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), or another regulatory college.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in a mental health setting is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience working with children and youth in a community mental health setting is preferred.
- Experience with providing a broad range of clinical services and demonstrated effective work with children and youth who present with a variety of clinically challenging issues.
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills.
- Experience with, and qualified to administer, score, and interpret Level B assessments including the Conners Scale for ADHD.
- Excellent clinical assessment, formulation and recovery planning skills are essential.
- Experience planning and delivering individual counselling services and psycho-educational groups virtually and in person.
- Broad knowledge of relevant legislation relating to mental health and addictions, and the DSM - 5 classification system.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, analyze and problem solve.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal and organizations skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in English.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening).
- Proficient computer skills working within an electronic medical record, MS Office, and data analysis.
