About the Opportunity:
In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production equipment, which includes electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic systems, while working from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and equipment specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:
Working primarily on voltages up to 600V (AC/DC), you will:
Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls, valves, etc.;
Run new power supply lines to new/relocated equipment according to IEE wiring regulations, Electrical Safety Code and company policy;
Wire new control panels according to supplied drawings and verbal instructions while adhering to Hydro Codes and other applicable standards and regulations;
Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing;
Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;
Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts inventory levels;
Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions;
Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements;
Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams;
Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;
Make trade calculations for load requirements and select appropriate sizes/grades of components in accordance with current electrical code;
Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine break down, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Engineering and Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams;
Always follow LOCK OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced;
Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms; and
Organize workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.

Education and Experience:
In order to be successful in this role, you must have a valid Provincial Industrial Electrician’s license (preferably inter-provincial), knowledge of applicable electrical codes and 3-5 years of experience employed as an Industrial Electrician, ideally within a production environment.
Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic, you have working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors, etc.
A proven team player and strong communicator with excellent organizational skills, you will be a great fit for this role if you are able to:
Core Competencies:
Understand and use programming devices for troubleshooting and modifying programs;
Perform basic wiring work, conduit bending, controls cabinet wiring and general installations;
Identify causes of problems while developing methods of correction;
Lift up to 40lbs
Work overtime and weekends as required; and
Work shift work as required.

Job tasks are as outlined but not limited to:
Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required
Work side by side with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices
Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Supervisor as required by provincial regulation
Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures and regulations at all times
Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
Ensure compliance of all Company policies
Ensure personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act is maintained at all times and recommends measures to improve health and safety
Ability to work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

**Experience**:

- Electrical: 2 years (preferred)
- Electrical schematics and drawings: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Industrial Electrician's license (preferred)
