The incumbent will also be responsible for the achievement of defined work plans and objectives aimed at supporting and advancing AFN’s national advocacy positions, interests and strategies in First Nations justice and social justice related issues and priorities.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree in a related field of study and 1-2 years of directly relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working with First Nations, and related policies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues in First Nations communities, specifically policing or MMIWG
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate complex ideas and information to any audience
- Demonstrated ability to research and interpret statistical related terminology
- Demonstrated experience analyzing large sets of complex and changing data, and communicating it in a clear and concise way, ensuring colleagues across the organization, Committees, First Nations leadership and other key stakeholders understand findings and recognize significance
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations, federal, provincial, territorial, northern, urban, and international governments, and officials
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, teamwork, and judgement
- Demonstrated time management, planning & organizational skills, and attention to detail
- English is the working language although the ability to communicate effectively in French or any Indigenous language would also be an asset

Le(la) titulaire devra également réaliser des plans de travail et des objectifs définis visant à défendre et à promouvoir les positions, les intérêts et les stratégies de plaidoyer de l'APN à l'échelle nationale en ce qui concerne les enjeux et les priorités liés à la justice et à la justice sociale des Premières Nations.

**Qualifications***:

- Diplôme d’études postsecondaires dans un domaine connexe et 1 à 2 ans d'expérience directement pertinente, ou combinaison équivalente d'éducation et d'expérience.
- Un minimum d'un an d'expérience de travail avec les Premières Nations, et les politiques connexes.
- Connaissance et compréhension des enjeux auxquels se heurtent les communautés des Premières Nations, en particulier en ce qui a trait aux services de police ou aux FFADA.
- Compétences supérieures en communication orale et écrite et capacité à traduire des idées et des informations complexes pour n'importe quel public.
- Capacité avérée à rechercher et à interpréter des termes statistiques.
- Expérience avérée de l'analyse de vastes ensembles de données complexes et changeantes, et de la communication de ces données de manière claire et concise, en veillant à ce que les collègues de l'organisation, les comités, les dirigeants des Premières Nations et d'autres parties prenantes importantes comprennent les résultats et en reconnaissent l'importance.
- Expérience avérée de la collaboration avec les Premières Nations, les gouvernements et les représentants fédéraux, provinciaux, territoriaux, du Nord, municipaux et internationaux.
- Entregent, travail d'équipe et jugement démontrés.
- Gestion du temps, compétences en matière de planification et d'organisation et souci du détail.
- L'anglais est la langue de travail, mais la capacité à communiquer efficacement en français ou dans une langue autochtone serait également un atout.
