A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Manager to oversee the Clinical Trials Unit at BC Cancer - Vancouver Centre. It is an exciting time to join BC Cancer as we begin to implement the BC Cancer Plan which has brought significant investment to our services. With over 250 active clinical trials, across 6 tumour group based business units you would be leading the most active clinical trial portfolio for cancer services in all of British Columbia. As a result, we are looking for a dynamic, curious, and effective manager to support change management and transformation of clinical research services.

**What you’ll do**
- Provides leadership to the CTU staff through collaborative coaching, guidance and modeling key behaviour, identifying staffing needs, professional development, managing performance, and providing supervision and direction to effectively and efficiently deliver services to meet team goals and objectives of the Business Units and the CTU as a whole.
- Sets strategic direction for the CTU to ensure effective achievement of scientific/business objectives and to align to the BC Cancer Agency’s research vision, mission and values.
- Coordinates and manages the departmental operating budget and specific study/project budgets by monitoring budget performance, managing the financial resources, workload and financial forecasting to ensure trials and projects meet the expected budgets.
- Analyzes requirements and develops written policies and procedures for quality management initiatives and Standard Operating Procedures for clinical trials operations. Develops, implements and maintains effective methodologies and standards for efficient management of clinical investigation studies in accordance with national and international standards. Leads the development and compliance of a quality assurance and improvement programs for the CTU as required by Clinical Trials, regulatory and accreditation standards.

**What you bring**
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Science in a health discipline or related field including five (5) years experience in a similar role including previous work in the healthcare system and a multidisciplinary environment where clinical trials occurred, including leadership experience including, budgetary, human resource and project management.
- Three (3) years experience in the conduct of clinical trials. Certification as a Clinical Research Professional, preferred.

You will also have:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, leadership ability and strength in collaboration. Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
