Why is this role important?
- The Analyst is part of a matrix team responsible for CIHI’s data and information governance program, corporate master and reference data management and standards development. S/he will be responsible for: supporting the advancement of corporate data and information governance best practices; planning and executing analyses supporting enhancements to master data; collaborating with colleagues across the organization in delivering artefacts such as business rules, business requirements, test strategies, data quality improvements, etc.; developing and maintaining knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, health master data assets, and corporate data standards.
- What you'll do
- Performs support activities (incl. creating/enhancing usage guidelines, standards and documentation and client support) in order to establish single corporate stewardship and accountability for data domains.
- Participates in the identification and resolution of important issues relating to master data to ensure effective operation, maintenance and standardized use. This may include assisting with the development of policies, business rules and documentation for data collection, quality assurance and data element definitions as well as policies for how to use master data in analysis and reporting.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements related to the management and use of Organization and/or other master domain data. Confirms and validates information to keep the master data sources up to date.
- Conducts data profiling and analysis on master data to support corporate projects.
- Participates and assists with the development and delivery of presentations / education sessions for internal stakeholders regarding master data.
- Monitors change requests, performs options analysis and develops recommendations for updates to master data and provides support to special projects of the team.
- Works with other ITS departments to implement changes and executes testing for master and reference data system changes.
- Provides coordination support by taking minutes, drafting agendas, and providing input to project planning as appropriate.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of corporate data sources including OI, CRM and geographical/population data, and the tools (e.g. Python, SAS, Excel, Microstrategy) used to produce standard and ad hoc outputs. Provides input to the documentation and metadata (e.g. dictionaries, catalogues, glossaries) of these data sources.
What you'll bring to the table
- Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Programming experience with data manipulation and statistical software, including Python, R, SAS and/or SQL.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to excel in a team environment while demonstrating initiative and ownership of work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of CIHI and CIHI programs is an asset.
- Ability to meet occasional travel requirements.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
