**MOBILE MENTAL HEALTH WORKER**

**Temporary (1yr) Part-Time**

**How You Will Make an Impact**
- To provide rapid crisis assessment, development and implementation of risk management plans (identifying specific needs and appropriate actions, resources and timeframes) for individuals determined to be in need of mental health supports.
- To collaborate in the development of individualized plans, driven by the client's self-identified needs and goals while remaining cognizant of the client's current stage of treatment and readiness for change.
- To support each client in addressing pressing needs by providing emotional support, skill training, creative problem solving, encouragement, positive feedback and practical assistance.
- To provide crisis counseling, education, and support to clients and members of their immediate support systems in a manner that is consistent with their level of knowledge and understanding of mental health needs.
- To educate and inform clients about available resources and services and support them in making self-referrals as appropriate.
- To facilitate a smooth and warm referral to the crisis bed program that maintains the dignity and confidentiality of all concerned.
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
- Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd

**What You'll Bring to Our Team**
- Post-secondary education in social services or a related field is required
- An extensive knowledge of community resources and supports in the City of Hamilton.
- A demonstrated knowledge and skills in suicide, risk assessment and behavior management.
- A demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies and interventions and an ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
- A demonstrated ability to recognize and respond to the emotional, psychological and physical needs of individuals reacting to a crisis situation.
- A demonstrated ability to engage clients to participate in a problem-solving process while concurrently providing feedback, support and motivation.
- A recognition of one's cultural biases and a willingness to increase awareness and reinterpret behavior from cultural perspectives that differ from one's own.
- Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
- Valid G license required
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safet
