Job description

The Swamper is responsible for the assisting Truck Drivers in the delivery of product to customer sites. The Swamper assists with ensuring loads are properly secured and properly placed on the deck and/or bed of their truck as well as performing other laboring and elemental activities as required within the work area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITILIES
Duties
- Assist with performing the pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
- Assist with performing pre-trip inspection of loaded product to confirm accuracy to order being delivered.
- When unloading trucks, ensure that product is placed in a safe area with customer needs taken into consideration.
- Assist the Truck Driver in conducting a site inspection according to Igloo delivery standards prior to dropping product off.
- Follow Igloo loading and unloading procedures to ensure products are safely secured.
- Record information on pick-ups and deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems encountered.
- Clean trucks on a regular basis to ensure vehicle always portrays a positive image for Igloo.
- Other duties as assigned.

Most difficult and/or complex aspects of the position:

- The Swamper works under the direction of a Truck Driver. Processes are very structured with no ability to alter from the process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Training: Provided on the job.

Experience: Previous general labor experience is an asset but not required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/UNIQUE ASPECTS OF JOB:
Physical Exertion: Position requires to frequently get in and out of a truck or van. Incumbent is required to be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs up to 80lbs to perform job safely. Position is also repetitive in nature.
