JOB SUMMARY
Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Temporary Buyer based at our Taber Facility. This one-year contract position is responsible for managing and supporting the purchasing process of the goods and services for Taber’s plant. These purchasing processes are required to maintain the operations and the daily requirements for production at the refinery.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Support Major Maintenance Requests (MMRs) and CAPEX projects as required;
- Local Contracts: connect with stakeholders to maximize their involvement into the analysis of the commercial offers, survey the current contract, communicate and support the process with stakeholder, look for the opportunities and lead the negotiation (Cost and T&Cs).
- Manage and execute the requirements from our system according to Purchasing cycle;
- Prioritize and support urgent requirements;
- Follow up on acknowledgement, deliveries, etc.;
- RFQs: analyse & challenge suppliers to improve the landed cost.
- Maintain excellent business relations with our current suppliers;
- Research, analyze and qualify new sources of purchasing for more competitiveness;
- Support internal customers in the achievement of their objectives;
- Assure all activities in connection with Purchasing (Duties, brokerage, transport, warehousing, etc.);
- Support & replace, if needed, within the Purchasing Dept.;
- Participate to the vendor yearly evaluation;
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings;
- Report cost savings and cost avoidance monthly
- Participate and support the annual budget process
- Get involved, support and monitor innovation projects
- Coordinate production tests
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the department;
- Participate in the Non-Conformance process, when declared;
- Other duties as assigned
**QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
- Bachelor degree in purchasing/procurement or administration or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Purchasing position
- Knowledge of the suppliers for maintenance and services
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office tools, Outlook, Maximo, Navision, Internet
- Knowledge and adherence of ISO, HACPP, and FSSC22000 programs considered an asset
- Knowledge of the packaging products market is an asset
- Very good knowledge of the technical aspect of Purchasing & Procurement
- Key knowledge of the market for the maintenance parts (plumbing, electrical, electronic, construction material, etc.)
- Excellent knowledge of both Canadian and Global markets for sourcing supplies in the industrial sector
- Strategic thinker, strong ability to solve problems and define action plans
