We are a small family business providing bookkeeping, tax preparation, financial management and insurance services for individual and small business clients. We are looking for a bookkeeper/ tax preparer to join our team. The position would be ideal for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare complete and accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and answer questions
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations
- Prepare journal entries, draft financial statements, GST/HST reports and prepare payroll
- Effectively correspond with clients and the CRA on clients' behalf.

**Experience**:

- Solid bookkeeping skills and experience
- Familiarity with tax preparation software
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage or Quickbooks
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and payroll processes

**Skills**:

- Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing statements and returns
- Strong analytical skills to identify potential deductions and credits for clients
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients effectively
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $22.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- QuickBooks: 1 year (preferred)
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

- Antigonish, NS B2G 2C2: Relocate before starting work (required)
