Job Summary

The Summer Camp Counsellor serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge at the Cor Van Raay YMCA by implementing and managing summer camp programming. The main goals of this position are:
1. Ensuring participants are following proper safety guidelines

2. Leading summer camp activities and supervising participants

3. Ensuring adherence to the highest level of Child Protection and Health and Safety

Nature & Scope

The Summer Camp Counsellor will support the overall success of summer camp, the responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:

- Implementing summer camp programming and leading various activities
- Acting as a leader in health and safety, ensuring the highest level of standards are maintained within summer camp
- Fostering and developing a strong culture and sense of community within summer camp operations with staff and participants
- Demonstrating and championing ‘SAM Standards’ daily throughout the facility
- Attending, supporting, and participating in all required YMCA training, recertifications, and in-service trainings

Physical/Special Demands
- This position involves prolonged physical activity
- This position involves active instruction of YMCA summer camp programming
- This position involves the ability to lift 20kgs
- This position involves working a flexible schedule with mínimal additional time off

Qualifications and Experience
- Interest and/or education in Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or other Human Services
- Experience in a youth serving and/or recreation program (considered an asset)
- Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certifications
- Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check
- Evidence of an acceptable Child Intervention Check
- Three professional references required
- be between the 15 and 30 years of age
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitles to work in Canada

**International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $19.00 per hour
