Animal Control Officer

**JOB** SUMMARY**: The Animal Control Officer reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Program Supervisor - Community Health & Wellness. The Animal Control Officer works to assist the Animal Control team in the performance of operational duties in regard to animal control, animal welfare, shelter care and maintenance, prevention and promotion as it relates to Six Nations of the Grand River Community’s health and wellbeing. The Animal Control Officer works within the policies and procedures established by Six Nations of the Grand River.

$40,000-$46,000

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Animal control services field experience an asset
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Six Nations community or other indigenous communities and understanding of importance of culture as foundation
- Good communication and time-management skills
- Knowledge of animal behaviour an asset
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, able to work with tact and discretion
- Must have a valid Class “G” driver’s license and reliable transportation
