**CBVRCE 2023 NSTU-006, Literacy Consultant P-2 (Perm), Coxheath Elementary (Base)**:
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of the Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 in 38 schools.

**Qualifications**
- Must possess a valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certificate
- Should have a minimum of 5 Years recent (within the past 7 years) successful teaching experience in ELA - Primary - 2
- A Master's degree in Education, preferably with a Literacy concentration
- Strong background in effective literacy instruction and assessment a the Primary - 2 level
- A strong understanding of student-centred coaching

**LITERACY CONSULTANT P-2**

The Literacy Consultant in Primary-2 is a part of Inclusive Education Funding to promote literacy growth and achievement from grades Primary-2. This individual will work within the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education Regional leadership team to align with the goal that every child is a reader by the end of Grade 2. The Literacy Consultant Primary-2 will report to the Coordinator of Literacy.

**Abilities**
- The Literacy Consultant should have strong classroom practice in the Primary-2.
- Superior administrative skills, including wide range of technical skills.
- A demonstrated ability to be a collegial decision maker yet decisive and consistent.
- Superior level of facilitation and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of and commitment to, quality inclusive education for all students.
- Superior ability to stimulate professional growth of staff, through effective professional development in a variety of platforms.
- Demonstrated commitment to and above average knowledge and abilities in the areas of curriculum and curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Superior skills in the use of current technology integration.
- Great understanding of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy.

**Responsibilities**
- Model and support teachers, students, teacher support team and administration in the implementation of current best practices.
- Working directly with students to improve literacy skills.
- Providing support to teachers in the implementation of literacy best practices (instruction and assessment) that contribute to Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education and provincial goals, plans, initiatives, and expectations.
- Support the monitoring of student growth and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with all Program and Student Services staff.
- Attending regional/provincial meetings and other related meetings as appropriate.
- Manage projects and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Assist with and deliver PD.
- Acting in a leadership role for the region’s Literacy Team.
- Performing other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement
