**Introduction**:
The Manager, Building Operations & Sustainability plays a critical leadership role in the safe, effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the 4 occupied and 10 vacant buildings at the Evergreen Brick Works (EBW) site. This is a great role for someone with a passion for sustainability and accessibility, who is committed to promoting best practices in this field. They will be a driving force behind Evergreen’s goals of making EBW a carbon neutral site and achieving Rick Hansen Gold Certification.

**About the Role**:
The Manager, Building Operations & Sustainability will be responsible for preserving the good condition of building infrastructure at EBW, ensuring these facilities are safe and well-functioning, while adhering to key sustainability metrics including LEED platinum standing and BOMA best certification. The role requires a Building Operations/Facility Management professional who is organized and flexible, with real-time problem-solving skills. EBW is a dynamic work environment, and this Manager will need to decode complex situations and develop effective and efficient processes.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage and maintain Evergreen’s building operations systems to ensure effective functioning at all times.
- Uses expertise in building systems (mechanical, electrical, life safety, etc.) to diagnose and implement the maintenance and repairs for day-to-day and long-term equipment issues.
- Perform analysis and forecasting, including asset management and preventative maintenance plans.
- Coordinate repairs and service to all building systems, maintaining appropriate logs and documentation.
- Prepare and track budgets, managing facility costs and supporting long-term asset management and budget planning.
- Ensure all tasks are completed at a high standard and within strict time frames.
- Manage and negotiate all operations and maintenance contracts, maintaining relationships with trades and supervising their activities on site.
- Contributes to the establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures for the safe, efficient and on-going operations of EBW buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support the maintenance of great tenant relationships, overseeing the response to building-related tenant requests.
- Assist in the project management and coordination of new capital projects, as necessary.
- Contribute to the development, updating and implementation of Evergreen’s Fire Prevention and Sustainability Plans.
- Contribute to ongoing risk management activities, including emergency response and preparedness, flood management and OHSA compliance.
- Supervise, schedule and direct building operators.
- Advocate for safe work practices and customer service as key priorities among employees and trades.
- Participate in special projects and complete other duties as requested.
- Actively contribute to organizational objectives around equity, inclusivity and belonging.
- Contribute to positive workplace culture and great internal communication.

**You have the following qualifications**:
- 5+ years of experience as a Building Operator, Facilities Manager or other relevant position
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
- Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Good analytical/critical thinking
- BSc/BA in building operations, facility managem
