As a Terrestrial Ecology Co-op or Summer Student, you will join our Calgary, Alberta office as part of our Natural Sciences team for a 4 or 8-month term starting May 2024. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation, wetlands and wildlife projects with responsibilities as follows:
- Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture- Assist with the coordination and execution of soil surveys, vegetation and wetland surveys, and various wildlife surveys- Assist with field survey data management- Assist with the preparation of reports- Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.
What We Are Looking For- Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management, soil science or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution- Strong oral and written communication skills- A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.- Experience with off-highway vehicles (i.e., ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset- Cares about their safety and the safety of others- Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices- Works easily in a team- Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks- Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
