How will you contribute?
As a member of the operations team in the Senate Administration’s Property and Services Directorate, the Maintenance Person (Heavy Duty) helps maintain the Parliamentary Precinct work environment by providing high-quality, professional service.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance Services, the Maintenance Person (Heavy Duty) carries out a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks in public and work spaces in Senate buildings in accordance with established service standards. The incumbent may also be required to move and transport furniture, equipment, accessories and boxes, and to maintain the interior and exterior of buildings depending on the season.

The general public to staff two (2) determinate position (Full-Time) for a period of six (6) months in the Properties and Services Directorate.

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites
- Successful completion of secondary school education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position;
- One (1) year experience in cleaning public or private buildings;
- Experience in safely moving heavy objects such as furniture, equipment and materiel using appropriate tools and equipment;
- Experience in safely using a variety of cleaning products;
- Experience in operating the tools and equipment necessary to clean buildings (e.g., automatic floor scrubbers and floor stripping, waxing and polishing machines);
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS);
- Successfully completed studies or training in a related field (e.g., general building maintenance, building cleaning and public building cleaning) would be considered an asset;
- Experience in maintenance in the parliamentary precinct would be considered an asset.
