Part-Time Tutoring Opportunity with LDANB

The Learning Disabilities Association of New Brunswick is seeking to interview and hire tutors to participate in our Barton Tutoring Program in the Moncton region. This is an online tutoring position with a possibility of additional in-person hours.

The Barton Reading and Writing System is an internationally recognized system (based on the Orton-Gillingham approach) that has been designed to teach the fundamentals of reading and spelling by breaking down words into smaller, more manageable chunks. It teaches the phonemic structure of written language using a multi-sensory approach, which recognizes that people who struggle with reading and/or spelling learn best by involving all of their senses: visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic.

**Where**: Moncton area

**Qualifications**:

- **Attending post-secondary or have completed post-secondary**. Post-secondary education with an emphasis on **English literature, psychology, or education** is considered an asset.
- Previous **tutoring experience** an asset.
- Demonstrated experience and additional skills will also be considered.
- Must be **legally able to work in New Brunswick, Canada.**

A criminal background check including a vulnerable sector report must be completed prior to the start of tutoring, but is not required to apply.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

**LDANB’s Barton Tutoring Program**
- Consists of one-to-one tutoring
- Involves a minimum of four one-hour sessions per week/ 2 students
- Tutoring is offered year-round in semesters
- The fall and winter semesters have 20 sessions
- The spring and summer semester have 14 sessions
- Tutors report directly to the Program Coordinator.
