**Museum Assistant (HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT POSITION)**:
The Huron County Museum and Historic Gaol have a part-time opportunity for a high school student. This position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Museum & Historic Gaol and provide visitor services. This position will include front desk customer service, as well as assistance with special events, children’s programs, day camps and research or collections projects as assigned. A student Museum Assistant will gain a variety of transferrable work experiences in the culture, heritage, tourism and public service fields.

**Hours of work**:

- Part-time as scheduled. Regular weekend and Thursday evening site coverage based on seasonal hours. Shifts for occasional rentals, special events, and daytime shifts as needed, are to be scheduled around the student’s school schedule.
- Weekends and evenings required
- The Museum’s hours of work generally fall between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but evening shifts would be required for this role, including regular Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings for Behind the Bars summer tours in July and August

**Wages**:

- $14.60 starting [starting at High School the first year, 2023 wage grid]

**Qualifications**:

- Available to start weekend and evening shifts in May
- Demonstrated interest in local history, culture or heritage
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience and comfort in public speaking
- Creativity & ability to problem-solve
- Excellent organization skills
- High standard of customer service
- Experience working with young children is an asset
- Experience working with cash, debit & credit machines beneficial
- A police security clearance check may be required prior to hiring
