The Houseparent is responsible for maintaining a healthy meal plan, a clean home, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for residents. The Houseparent is directly responsible to the Program Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- **To develop and coordinate a healthy, balanced meal plan in accordance with the Canada Food Guide.**:

- **To prepare and cook the meals for residents on a daily basis, including weekend meals.**:

- **To follow Safe Food Handling procedures when preparing and cooking meals.**:

- **To maintain a clean and orderly home through consistent and efficient housekeeping.**:

- **To be responsible for the grocery shopping while balancing a monthly grocery and household supply budget. To provide receipts for approved expenditures to accounting on a monthly basis.**:

- **To provide supervision to residents and maintain a consistent and structured environment.**:

- **To take residents for required healthcare and other appointments as directed by the Program Manager and in accordance to the agency policy and procedures.**:

- **To provide positive role modelling to youth, to conduct themselves as a caring adult authority figure, and to make decisions in the best interest of the youth.**:

- **To facilitate resident contact with family and friends according to the youth’s treatment plan.**:

- **To ensure timely and accurate information on a daily basis concerning the needs and behaviours of residents and to follow the agency’s policy on reporting and documenting critical information.**:

- **To operate according to the agency’s Code of Ethics.**:

- **To learn and operate by the agency’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.**

**Qualifications**:
The Houseparent will have a combination of education and experience related to working with youth and will possess personal attributes that facilitate the development of trusting and caring relationships with youth. Previous experience preparing meals for a group of 10-20 people, Safe Food Handling certificate, Criminal Record Check, and a valid class 5 driver’s license are required.

**Salary**: $20.39-$26.59 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
