**Position Title**
- IT Architecture and Cyber Security Manager**Position Summary**
- The Manager of IT Architecture and Cyber Security is the senior information technology expert at Red Deer Polytechnic. This position supports the long-term business technology needs and the protection of RDP’s data assets. The primary functions of this position include being a resource for all Information Technology Services (ITS) staff for the planning and operation of IT services as well as being the approval authority for technical solution designs both from a technical design perspective as well as a cybersecurity perspective. The position ensures that all IT solutions align with long-term business operational needs, technology roadmaps, and cyber security constraints. The Manager IT Architecture and Cyber Security will support the strategic and operational planning process for Information Technology Services.**Position Responsibilities**

**Strategic and Operational Planning**
- Contributes to determining the strategic direction of the Division of IT Services in collaboration with the other IT managers, and in support of the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
- Supports the Chief Information Officer in the development of the IT Strategic and operational plans.
- Conducts continuous research and evaluation of new technologies to provide recommendations for their adoption and use at RDP.
- Plans and develops initiatives, objectives and activities for the Architecture & Cyber Security team based on department goals/plans.
- Understands and translates tactical and operational business requirements into effective supporting technology architectures and designs.
- Recommends, develops, and implements department policies and procedures.
- Ensures federal and provincial legal requirements for security and privacy, cyber insurance requirements, and align with the NIST Cyber Security Framework requirements are met.

**Leadership of Enterprise Architecture**
- Oversees the development of strategic enterprise architecture plans that align with RDP’s strategic plans and objectives and that consider trends, best practices, and research results.
- Reduces current and future costs across product/portfolio initiatives by identifying misalignments, duplication of efforts, and other opportunities for improvement in the architecture; escalates, proposes, and drives to delivery, practical, efficient and reusable solutions.
- Acts as a senior technical leader for the team of information technology professionals in the design of advanced integrated systems to support defined business objectives.
- Accountable for development and implementation of technical policies and procedures related to IT deployments, operations, and security controls.
- Accountable to work with the technical teams to develop and maintain technology roadmaps across all technical disciplines within information technology services.
- Provides approval signoff authority for new service designs to ensure they will meet business needs and align with overall polytechnic technology roadmaps.
- Prepares proposals and budgets for significant security or infrastructure projects.
- Evaluates vendor proposals and recommends technology decisions.
- Acts as the senior escalation point for technical problems that are not able to be resolved by the system owners.
- Sits on industry, federal, post-secondary working committees and groups.

**Leadership of Cyber Security**
- Ensures security design is a key aspect of all new IT services and systems.
- Establishes security control policies and procedures.
- Manages security vendors and contractors for assigned projects.
- Works with the CIO and the Cyber Security Analyst to; update the IT Risk Register, prepare annual cyber security report to executive leadership, and manage IT Audit tasks.
- Responsible for development, delegation, evaluation of the RDP Cyber Security Program outcomes and Cyber Security Incident Response Plan.

**People Leadership**
- Responsible for the effective recruitment and selection, retention, coaching, supervision, performance enhancement in compliance with People and Culture policies and procedures, FOIPP, and collective agreements in support of a high performing team.
- Facilitates where necessary discipline and dismissal of reporting staff, in consultation with the Director and People and Culture.
- Directs the day-to-day operations of direct report(s).
- Operationalises and applies collective agreements and ensure policy compliance.
- Approves, monitors, and reports vacation and other absences for all staff under the direct supervision; arrange coverage for all vacation and long-term absences as required.
- Develops, reviews, and is accountable for the fluid support structure and processes to ensure the effective and efficient distribution and delegation of work.
