The Nursery Worker oversees the planning and delivery of a nursery program for children ages 0-3 years within the applicable legal, financial and safety framework.

This is a part-time position:

- 3 hours per week Sundays from 10am - 1pm

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversees nursery program and supervises children ages 0-3 years during Sunday morning Worship Services
- Ensures the physical safety and wellbeing of children under their care
- Ensures adequate volunteers are recruited, trained, and are in place for the program
- Maintains proper logs for nursery, including but not limited to registration forms, emergency information, and incident reports
- Acts as a contact for parents regarding assessing and implementing needs of individual children, questions and concerns
- Ensures the nursery is safe, clean, sanitized and the toys are age appropriate

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education/Certifications**:

- Having completed High School
- Education in a related field preferred
- First Aid and CPR Certification (or willing to obtain)
- A recent (within 2 years) satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Proof of being legally able to work in Canada

**Experience**:

- Experience working or volunteering in a church setting is considered an asset
- Experience working or volunteering with The Salvation Army is considered an asset

**PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES**:

- Ability to frequently lift/move equipment and children, room set up, occasionally intervene in physical confrontations, story - telling, and cleaning
- Ability to lift more than 20 pounds
- Attentive listening, record keeping, and preparing materials (crafts, snacks, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, gentleness and patience
