We are looking for an Early Childhood Assistant for our growing school

Ages: Toddler/Preschool

Location: Pape and Danforth

**Salary**: $ 16 - $ 18 hourly

**What responsibilities will you have in this role?**
- Plans developmental appropriate curriculum for children between 2 ½ years to 6 years old that is congruent with the Ontario Ministry of Education, using the ELECE and HDLH
- Provides behavior guidance and ongoing supervision of playroom, individual and routine activities.
- Ensures the overall health and safety of children enrolled in the program by maintaining a sanitary and safe environment and identifying children who are unwell.
- Arranges children’s play space to reflect the philosophy of the curriculum; builds and maintains responsive relationships with individuals and groups of children in care.
- Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with families through open communication
- Maintains currency in the curriculum methodology used at the center and in other areas related to the field of Early Childhood Development by participating in a variety of professional development activities.
- Collaborates with colleagues, shares expertise and practical knowledge; participates in the center and program development meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualification Requirement**:

- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Must have health assessment and immunization as required by the Ministry of Education.
- Experience with curriculum development in Early Childhood Education.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills are essential. The ability to write for both print and electronic media is required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work both independently and as a team member, with minimum supervision.
- Ability to spend most of the day at the child’s level, i.e. sitting on the floor, or on child height chairs.
- Able to bend, stoop and lift the child to adult height (up to 20 kg) and to move children’s furniture or equipment to prepare the room for programming needs.
- The complexity, diversity, and pressure characteristic of this position require the incumbent to have excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and participating in consultative decision-making processes.
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate

**Hours of Work**: Up to 35 hours per week **All prospective staff being considered for these positions will be required to undergo a criminal reference check.**
