**As a Lead Truck Helper/ Dock Worker** you will assist in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing and/or distribution of goods and donations. The incumbent will be knowledgeable of and strictly follow all legislative safety procedures.
**Lead Truck Helper Job Tasks**
- Prioritize and assign tasks and follow up in the absence of the Distribution Manager/Supervisor
- Ensure maintenance of DRC premises and equipment in the absence of the Distribution Manager/Supervisor
- Provide backup supervision to the staff in the absence of the Distribution Manager/Supervisor
- Ensures that all team members work in compliance with Health & Safety legislation; use, wear and maintain personal protective equipment; report workplace hazards; and follow accident and injury reporting processes.
- Attentive to the safe keeping of The Salvation Army property including donations
- Ensures compliance with all provincial CVOR legislation
- Assists with large scale pick-ups from corporate donors
- Assists with loading and unloading goods at the Distribution and Recycling Centre, Stores, and other destinations
- Assists in maintaining a clean and organized Distribution and Recycling Centre
- Greet donors courteously and accept donations at the Distribution and Recycling Centre
**Lead Truck Helper Skills and Qualifications**
- Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent
- Two to five years’ experience in a warehouse environment
- Experience using standard warehousing equipment (pallet jack, dollies, forklift)
- Ability to follow rules and work safely
- Results driven with a focus on service
- Action oriented and able to communicate effectively while maintaining your composure in challenging situations
- Valid driver’s licence and forklift licence are assets
- May be required to provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer
- Frequently exposed to a variety of environmental factors
- Flexible in work hours to achieve predetermined deadlines
- Substantial physical exertion is required for lifting and movement of heavy boxes and furniture - up to 50 lbs frequently and 75 lbs occasionally; includes bending, twisting, pulling, pushing of product.
- Folklift certified
