**3 & 5-Axis CNC Setup Technician**

**Nature & Scope of Position**:
Under the general direction of the CNC Manager, the CNC Setup Technician will primarily be responsible to assist the programmers and set up the machines to increase run time.

Responsibilities include the following:

- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
- Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety, and quality standards, as well as customer needs.
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production.
- Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, set machines or equipment controls, carry out production and inspection processes.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools.
- Mark, record, and report defective products.
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of shift.
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity, product quality and safety.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools including CNC (computer numerical controlled) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as turning, milling, boring, and drilling.
- Grind, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
- Lubricate, clean, maintain machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications.
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other ship personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using had tools, power tools and other aids like overhead hoists.
- Required personal protective equipment at all times.

**Qualifications**:

- A college diploma from a recognized institution or a minimum high school diploma with relevant experience in the manufacturing environment.
- Preferred one (1) years’ experience setting up 3 or 5-Axis machine.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with internal stakeholders such as Project Management, Design and Manufacturing
- Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Cimatron experience an asset.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc).
- Ability to work in fast paced / team environment.

Salary and benefits will be paid/provided in accordance with company Policy.

**Salary**: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

**Benefits**:

- Night shift
- Weekends only

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Kitchener, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- machinist: 1 year (preferred)
