**Nature and Scope**

United Gulf is a Halifax-based development company responsible for the planning, construction & development of projects ranging from subdivisions & commercial plazas to high-rise mixed-use developments with residential, commercial, and retail tenants, to traditional apartment. The development, construction, and operation of all projects are managed internally by our team of experienced professionals.

The Municipal Design Technician works with our development team to ensure that projects in the front end of our development pipeline are well supported with high quality and accurate designs, models, and documentation.

Done well, this work is the keystone of our development pipeline and supports the development cycle all the way to construction and commissioning phases.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Drafting_

Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data. Utilize your expertise in drafting & modelling to support innovative and practical design that optimizes land use, infrastructure development, and business needs. Identify potential operational/interference issues and redesign systems to improve functionality.
- Infrastructure Planning_

Prepare detailed horizontal and vertical geometric designs for roadways including pedestrian & bicycle facilities as well as other traffic calming measures present in new municipal guidelines.
- Project Management_

Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Contribute to accurate project schedules, budgets, and progress reports, through comprehensive internal communication and documentation.
- Cost Estimation_

Support cost estimations with project requirements, materials, labor, and equipment costs. On phased projects, support Engineers in prepare detailed cost breakdowns and budgets by phase.
- Specifications_

In coordination with our Engineers, produce project specifications that outline the technical requirements, materials, and quality standards for construction.
- Documentation_

Systematically organizing project files and drawings; updating project files through the project life cycle.
- Inspection_

Support site visits and inspections with our Engineers and consultants.
- Continuous Learning_

Stay abreast of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in municipal design and layout. Participate in professional development activities, attend seminars, and seek opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

**Qualifications**
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
- Proven expertise with zoning and subdivision regulations.
- Familiarity with various Municipal and Provincial design and drafting standards; particularly those of Halifax Regional Municipality and surrounding municipalities
- An advanced knowledge and passion for computer aided drafting and other modelling.
- Attention to drafting accuracy and quality control
- Effective project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

**Requirements**:
The following are requirements of the position;
- A completed 2-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field,
- Be a registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with TechNova, or be eligible for membership.
