**JOHN NOBLE HOME BACKGROUND**

The **John Noble Home **(JNH) is a “Class A” facility and has a proud and long-standing care-giving tradition, dating back to 1881. Today, we offer several different quality programs devoted to senior housing, care, and services that operate within our care campus. All meet and serve the needs of both Brant County and the City of Brantford and their respective constituents as we are a municipally operated and governed facility.
The John Noble Home consists of 156 long term care beds with planned expansion, a community-based day & stay program and senior’s apartments.

The Handy Person is responsible for waste management; receiving deliveries, distribution of deliveries, storing of supplies, internal distribution of supplies; assistance with maintenance minor jobs, activity set ups, housekeeping inventory and assisting with resident admissions and internal relocations. Cleaning duties include floors, carpets, walls, windows, lights, vents, waste containers and general cleaning as assigned. Seasonal duties include snow removal and salting of all sidewalks and entrances to the building as required and sweeping and leaf removal of the entrances to the building. Handyman must be able to work with all disciplines of the Home performing job duties.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES **(but not limited to):

- Conduct daily waste management throughout the Home, apartments and exterior of the building. Includes removal of garbage, recycling, cleaning and relining bins and cleaning of waste removal carts.
- Receive deliveries for Administration, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance and Nursing Department. Transport goods to designated areas. Store appropriately and rotate stock if required.
- Take inventory of housekeeping supplies mínimally monthly and report to Facility and Project Manager.
- Complete room audits and check work requests and complete as requested.
- Maintain gardens in Courtyards and exterior of the Home and apartments.
- Perform Spring/Fall clean-up of leaves etc.
- Attend to all grass cutting and trimming on a regular basis. Fertilize and weed as required and clean grass clippings off sidewalk.
- Collect garbage from court yards and outside entrances to the Home.

**KEY QUALIFICATIONS **(but not limited to):

- Ontario Secondary Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience as Handy Person, or Grounds Keeper
- Experience in a Long-Term Care setting is an asset
