**STATUS**: Permanent Full-Time (1.0 FTE) (12 month)
**HOURS**: 8.0 hrs/day - 40 hrs/week
**DATE REQUIRED**: Immediately
**SALARY RANGE**: $23.07 + benefit package

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Reporting to the Manager of Plant Services, the Tradesperson is responsible for the maintenance and construction of the Board's buildings and sites, and the repair of furniture and equipment. the duties include, but are not limited to he following:
Furniture and equipment repair for Board schools/sites (including handicap equipment such as ramps);
Construction on portables, including framing (wood and metal), roofing (shingles and steel), insulating, floor tiling, suspended ceiling, trim work and exterior siding;
Hardwood floor finishing and floor tile repairs;
Cabinet making;
Gyprock, wood, concrete and metal spray painting and painting with brush, as well as spotting (interior wall finish);
Drywall installation, finishing and repair;
Installation, maintenance and repair of interior and exterior building surfaces;
Masonry work such as concrete finishing, block work and metal door and frame installation;
Door hardware installation such as closers, panic set, and locks;
Locksmith duties such as key cutting;
Millwork construction, equipment repair;
Tackboard and chalkboard assembly and installation;
Curtain and drapery installation and repairs;
Installation, repair and maintenance of playground equipment;
Grounds maintenance such as fencing and other exterior fixtures and building cleaning;
Welding;
Hardware installation and repairs;
Running wire for data and communication systems;
Record keeping of time, materials and travel;
Costing and purchasing of materials;
Completion of work order details for each job;
Calculation of bi-monthly spreadsheets;
Supervision of temporary plant staff and submission of timesheets;
Bulky and/or heavy lifting and other physical duties such as carrying, reaching/bending, pushing/pulling, climbing etc.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
High School Diploma;
Must have a license in carpentry or in process of obtaining such license;
2-3 years working experience in general building, maintenance, renovations and repair;
Skilled in the use of hand-held and power tools;
Ability to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
Strong mathematical skills and a good command of verbal and written English;
Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and effectively with mínimal supervision;
Ability to perform physically demanding, strenuous duties;
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; Driver's abstract will be required at time of hire;
Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act as it applies to construction and maintenance, including WHMIS 2015, and the safe handling ans use of all supplies, tools and safety equipment.
