Plant Financial Controller

The plant's financial controller reports operationally to the Comptroller of the Americas and to the plant's financial business partner to the plant's financial business partner. The incumbent will ensure that robust internal controls are in place using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Company policies. He will perform assigned accounting and reporting activities, oversee projects and capital activities, perform monthly account reconciliations, and monitor and validate physical inventory balances working closely with the mill management team

**Main responsibilities**:

- Ensure that a robust internal control structure is in place in accordance with SOX, GAAP and Company policies. Ensure that all internal audit and control deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner. Regularly review process controls while teaching plant management and team the importance of adhering to internal controls and corrective solutions.
- Takes responsibility for production cost information related to material cost information, purchase price variances, inventory variances and material manufacturing deviations.
- Assist, manage and supervise audit activities in collaboration with internal and external auditors.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly financial reporting, special analyses related to month-end, annual financial statement closing procedures, account reconciliation and any discretionary reserve requirements.
- Have the ability to implement a process change that aligns with operational and individual objectives and to work as a team while taking into account the requirements of the company and the operational requirements of the plant with the goal of creating a win-win atmosphere.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes and systems.
- Be prepared to participate in the manufacturing process in order to connect and understand its impact on financial control procedures.
- Participate in or direct special projects or mandates, as appropriate.

**Experience required**:

- In-depth understanding of GAAP and accounting related to complex transactions and internal controls in SOX compliance.
- A minimum of five years of experience in accounting, auditing and financial control in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in operating cost accounting.
- Consulting skills and ability to leverage the ideas of key team members and convert them into relevant strategies and plans.
- Proven knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Hyperion Essbase and SAP products.
- French-English bilingualism, both oral and written.

Formation:

- The CPC or CGA professional designation is an asset
- An MBA or graduate degree is an asset

- Ability to quickly analyze and grasp a situation from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.
- Interpersonal skills to quickly establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility. Ability to create an atmosphere of collaboration within the team while achieving key objectives.

- Ability to focus on goals and objectives rather than obstacles and barriers.
- Demonstrates flexibility by being able to work extended hours as required.
- Minimum travel required.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
