Physician Substitute

The Physician Substitutes serve as the primary medical authority for the Plasma Centre. They evaluate each donor’s suitability and release donors for donations, provide counseling for donors, inform donors in case of positive test results (in which no indefinite deferral is in place), and provide medical aid in case of adverse reactions. Physician Substitute is responsible for the medical evaluation of potential donors for plasmapheresis procedures. Physician substitutes should confirm donor suitability in a timely manner, and consulting with center physician as needed. Physician substitutes should provide limited emergency care including the administration of any medications or treatments in accordance with him/her certification, medical directives, applicable training, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Deal with donor reactions, defer donors, and be aware of CPR deferral criteria, responsible for reception staff, donation staff, donor screener and donor screener supervisor.
