**JOB SUMMARY**:
Directly Operated Child Care Services is responsible for planning and managing the delivery and operations of Child Care programs and services delivered to the community through the Municipal Child Care Centres.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
Completion of 2 year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or an equivalent certificate provided by the Association for Early Childhood Education of Ontario (AECEO)

Minimum of 4 years of experience in related childcare services, supervision of staff and program administration.

Experience must be with 18 months to 5years old.

**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**:

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) current with the College of Early Childhood Educators
Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates

**KNOWLEDGE**:
Administration
- Applicable provincial, municipal legislation, policy and procedures
- Organizational techniques, workflow alignment and time management

Budget Management
- Basic budgeting, forecasting and monitoring practices, principles and techniques required for operational budgets
- Cash management, reporting, purchasing by-laws and procedures related to the procurement of goods and services

Employee Management
- Knowledge of the methods and strategies required when leading a full and part-time work force, including training and development strategies, leadership, mentoring, motivational techniques, conflict resolution, continuous feedback and recognition
- Human resource principles and practices, including C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement

Program and Facility Operation
- Knowledge of operation of early childhood education programs
- Working knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act 14
- Caseload management
- Project management principles
- Communication techniques, including oral, written and visual
- Policy development and implementation practices
- Best practices for client service
- Alternative service delivery mechanisms

Program Planning and Development
- Knowledge of early childhood development
- Knowledge of teaching methods, planning curriculums, evaluation and designing programs to meet children’s needs
- Operational planning and evaluation techniques
- Risk Management
- Must possess the training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and its performance
- Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and city policies and procedures

Risk Management
- Must possess the training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and its performance
