At PCL tax is more than just compliance; our group is relied on to provide expert advice on tax planning and corporate structures, along with consulting with our operating offices on a wide variety of issues. The Tax Manager role is an opportunity to lead PCL’s Canadian tax function.
Here's how a Tax Manager for our Edmonton North American Headquarters contributes to our team:
**Responsibilities**:
- Manages domestic corporate income tax compliance including tax returns, current and future tax provisions, tax payments, reviewing safe income and surplus pools,
- Manages the effective tax planning over the payment of intercompany dividends, and dividends to shareholders.
- Manages and reviews international tax reporting, active in cross border transfer pricing and planning initiatives.
- Leads tax planning and corporate structure initiatives.
- Primary contact for external advisors as well as government and external auditors.
- Assists with ongoing training, learning, and development of the corporate finance department to ensure they maintain a high level of knowledge, stays current with changing processes, and continues to meet the future needs of the department and organization.
**Qualifications**:
- CPA designation
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax course
- Over 5 years of progressive experience, specializing in tax management.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of domestic tax and exposure to international legislation and requirements.
- Strong understanding of tax issues including personal tax, safe income, transfer pricing, foreign affiliate reporting, and surplus calculations.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated experience identifying risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.
- Exhibits strong management skills, with the ability to delegate and coordinate activities effectively and lead and motivate direct and indirect reports.
