The Department of Natural Resources & Renewables is responsible for the development, management, conservation, and protection of forest, mineral, parks and wildlife resources and the administration of the province's Crown land. This includes providing support to the solar, wind and energy storage industries, clean transportation sector, energy efficiency sectors. **About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of Climate Change Investments, the Policy Analyst - Clean Transportation is responsible for supporting the development of zero-emission / electric transportation projects and the transportation efficiency approach within the Clean Energy branch. This will include developing strategic policies, programs, and projects for the deployment of clean energy in areas such as:

- Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) including electric vehicles, fleets, and charging infrastructure
- Bus and medium to heavy duty vehicle fleet electrification projects
- Marine sector electrification (ferries, tourism, and fishing vessels)
- Vehicle to load and vehicle to grid technology
- Transportation efficiency (transportation demand management)

**Primary Accountabilities**:
Some of the primary accountabilities in the role include:

- Supporting the development of zero-emission / electric transportation projects, policies, and programs critical to the clean energy economy, provincial GHG reduction commitments, and energy affordability in Nova Scotia.
- Participating in inter-governmental working groups related to zero-emission vehicle policies, light and medium to heavy duty vehicle fleets, and technology adoption.
- Coordinating projects, managing timelines, and coordinating partners across provincial departments, different levels of government and private sector.
- Monitoring project budget and plans to ensure initiatives are on track and progressing effectively.
- Working with cross functional teams from within the Branch, across various government departments and other organizations, and reporting to senior leaders on progress.
- Identifying shortcomings, suggesting improvements, and implementing approved revisions to current processes, systems, and procedures.
- Researching and recommending policies and programs to advance new or innovative zero-emissions transportation solutions in Nova Scotia, such as shared and on-demand mobility.
- Developing and coordinating transportation efficiency programs.
- Preparing briefing notes and correspondence for senior departmental staff on clean transportation and transportation electrification.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
You will have graduated from a recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Sustainable Resource Management or a related field plus a minimum of seven (7) years’ related experience, a Master's degree in a related field and five (5) years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

In addition, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience working in the zero-emissions transportation sector, including electrification, active transportation, micro-mobility, and/or transportation efficiency.
- Demonstrated experience in development and policies related to zero-emission vehicles, electrification of marine sector and/or transit systems.
- Skilled at engaging with people, building networks, and collaborating with a wide variety of industry, government and non-profit partners.
- Knowledge of the public policy development process and experience in policy analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated experience in report writing and preparation of briefing materials
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships
- Computer skills, including proficiency in software packages such as Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and Teams.

- Knowledge of structure, processes, and key players in Government
- Understanding of zero-emission / electric vehicle technology and policy approaches in Canada, the US and beyond
- Familiarity with policy and processes for advancing active transportation, transportation efficiency and innovations in zero-emissions transportation.
