The Granite Club is looking for Gymnastics and Tumble Camp Counsellors who will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Gymnastics Camp programs. This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the Club.

Primary Responsibilities
Gymnastics and Tumble Camp Counselor
- Teach fundamental gymnastics and tumble skills to children and beginners.
- Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans focusing on basic techniques and body awareness.
- Demonstrate proper form and technique for various gymnastics movements including rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and basic tumbling.
- Provide a safe and supportive learning environment, ensuring equipment is set up correctly and spotting participants as needed.
- Encourage skill progression through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
- Foster a love for gymnastics while promoting discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

Other Responsibilities
- Be available to work for all 9 weeks of summer camp.
- Be on time for shift and ensure all materials are ready 15 mins before camp starts.
- Express drop off between 8:50 am - 9:05am ensuring safe check in and out.
- Maintain professionalism.
- Be motivated and have high energy throughout the day.
- Learning best practices for teaching camp activities, including working with campers with special needs, using inclusive teaching methods, and general camp management.
- Take attendance before and after each transiting to ensure all campers are accounted for.
- Model good behaviour for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness.
- Develop age-appropriate weekly program plans to be implemented daily.
- Lead and support campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.
- Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
- Reporting and recording details of accidents or incidents.
- Participant in regular staff meetings.
- Participant in training session prior to the start of camp.
- Be able to enter the swimming pool shallow end everyday with campers.
- Work with other camp counsellor to plan and coordinate camp events.
- Provide an engaging, stimulating, and safe environment for campers to participant in.
- Ensure First Aid Kit is always up to date and with group.
- Provide parents with positive feedback of their child’s day.
- Be aware of any medical forms, alternate pick-up person, allergies, or dietary restrictions of campers.
- Make sure area is cleaned at the end of each class and at the end of the day.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12
- Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required.
- NCCP Level 1 Gymnastics Certification in Foundations and Theory is an asset.
- Previous experience coaching Recreational gymnastics classes is an asset but not required.
- A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children.
- Experience working with preschool aged children would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a camp counsellor an asset.
- Required to work a flexible schedule including weekends, weekdays and/or holidays, AM and PM.
