Core Cutter

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people. We are currently seeking **two (2)** **Core Cutters **to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay project team. **This is a 4-month term position with the possibility of extension, working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off at our McIlvenna Bay project site.**

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently completed (2022) a feasibility study for the deposit and is undertaking advanced exploration and detailed Engineering activities this year. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

**Core Cutter - Posting 2024-030**

Foran Mining has recently completed a positive feasibility study for the McIlvenna Bay project and have started advanced design, permitting and preliminary construction activities to build underground mining and milling facilities as well as the supporting infrastructure. A **Core Cutter** is responsible for cutting drill-oriented core for exploration activities. This position requires a high level of precision and attention to detail and will be an integral part of our mining operations and will play a critical role in the discovery and evaluation of mineral resources.

**Responsibilities**:

- Cut drill-oriented core samples in a safe and efficient manner.
- Label and organize core samples according to established procedures.
- Collaborate with geologists to ensure that core samples are properly handled and preserved.
- Perform routine maintenance on core cutting equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in other geology-related activities as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of geotechnical equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
- Complete drill site inspections as required.
- Assist with other miscellaneous camp duties if work is completed in the core shack.

**Job Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Less than 1 yr. experience with core cutting or related activities in a mining or exploration context is an asset.
- Possession of or ability to possess a fork-lift operating licence considered an asset.
- Strong technical skills, including the ability to operate and maintain core cutting equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Foster positive working relationships with co-workers and contractors both on and off site.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites as required.

**Physical Demands**:

- Heavy Lifting: Core cutters often need to handle and transport heavy core samples, drilling equipment, and other tools. This can involve lifting, carrying, and moving objects that may weigh several tens or even hundreds of pounds.
- Stamina: The work may require long hours, often in physically demanding conditions. Core cutters must have the stamina to perform tasks consistently over extended periods.
- Outdoor Work: Core cutting is typically conducted in remote locations, which means exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, snow, and wind. This may involve working in remote and rugged locations.
- Physical Agility: Core cutters may need to navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders, and access hard-to-reach areas within the mine site.
- Repetitive Tasks: Core cutting involves repetitive tasks like drilling, cutting, and handling core samples, which can be physically taxing over time.

**Tools & Equipment**:

- Will be required to operate quads, snowmobiles.
- May be required to operate a chainsaw.

**Compensation**:
We offer a competitive starting rate of $26.32/hour based on experience and qualifications.
