Dairy Lane Systems started in 1990 as a Surge milking equipment dealer. Since that time, we have expanded our scope to include automated milking robots, stabling, manure management, plumbing and ventilation services. Most recently, we acquired 2 milking equipment dealerships in Western Canada. In addition to the milking equipment sales, service and installation business, we are also involved in the design, build and operation of renewable energy biogas plants (DLS Biogas), the construction of agricultural structures (DLS Structures) and the manufacturing of dairy farm equipment (DLS Manufacturing).

**Responsibilities**:
Ø Manage all shop employees - including assigning tasks, providing guidance, recruitment, timesheet approval, manage vacation/time off requests and approval, prepare and present performance reviews, manage employee disputes/concerns

Ø Train employees on shop procedures/techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, etc. with help of supervisors

Ø Manage accounting functions as needed in the absence of accounting personnel

Ø Work directly with design department to schedule project release, part and jig design, quoting, material usage etc.

Ø Organize logistics of materials, parts, galvanizing trucks, and projects in and out of facility

Ø Oversee the operation of fabrication equipment such as brake press, tube bender, welding robot, laser cutter, cranes and forklifts

Ø Use Microsoft Teams software to schedule and track jobs from design to final shipment

Ø Coordinate with customers, other departments, employees across all branches to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects

Ø Procurement of all raw materials - track inventory, quote, order, maintain relationships with regular suppliers

Ø Review work orders/ sales orders to be invoiced, take corrective action of discrepancies

Ø Conduct safety meetings with support of health and safety representative/supervisors

Ø Ensure all equipment/ tools in shop are properly maintained and or repaired in a timely manner

**Requirements**:
Ø Previous management experience in a shop environment required

Ø Strong knowledge of ERP system (SAP) an asset

Ø Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication processes

Ø Experience with various types of shop tools and equipment

Ø Solid MS Office experience

Ø Strong leadership and management skills

Ø Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written

Ø Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Ø Basic knowledge of accounting

Ø Strong decision-making, problem -solving and time management skills

Ø Good understanding of Ontario health and safety requirements

Ø Must be legally entitled to work and live in Canada

Ø Must maintain a valid G driver’s license and have your own vehicle as we are not on a bus route

Ø Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your workday will rarely be the same but will always be exciting
